Italian 'wheeler-dealer' par
excellence Flavio Carboni, at the centre of many legal,
political and Vatican mysteries including the death of God's
Banker Roberto Calvi in 1982, has died at the age of 90 in
Rome, his family said Monday.
Carboni was involved in the bankruptcy of Calvi's Banco
Ambrosiano, which led to the banker ending up hanged under
London's Blackfriar's Bridge in what many believe was a Mafia
vendetta.
In more recent times he was a protagonist of the P3 influence
peddling scandal.
Carboni was originally from Torralba near Sassari in Sardinia.
