A mural showing Pope
Francis playing noughts and crosses with peace symbols instead
of Xs and Os appeared Wednesday morning and was removed shortly
thereafter, ANSA sources said.
The mural - painted above a shop window in the Borgo Pio
neighbourhood adjacent to the Vatican - was created by Mauro
Pallotta, known as Maupal.
Shortly after Pope Francis's election, Pallotta painted a
street art mural depicting the pontiff as a sort of Superman.
The artist gave Pope Francis a printed copy of that
artwork, which was also removed shortly after its creation.
