Pope Francis on
Wednesday said those who are dropping bombs on civilians in the
Syrian city of Aleppo will have to "reckon with God". He said
there were "cities where children, sick elderly, young and old,
everyone is dying" and renewed an appeal to "all to do their
utmost to protect civilians, as an imperative and urgent
obligation". He voiced "pain and worry" for the "tortured city"
of Aleppo. Francis has issued reiterated calls for an end to the
war in Syria which has reaped countless victims and made
countless more refugees.
