Pope Francis on Friday
called for unity in a divided world.
"The world unfortunately is marked by divisions and
conflicts as well as grave forms of material and spiritual
poverty à- including the exploitation of people, even children
and the elderly," he said on a visit to Etchmiadzin Cathedral,
the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
"The ecumenic spirit acquires exemplary value outside the
ecclesiastical community as well, and represents a strong call
for everyone to overcome their differences through dialogue and
by valuing that which unites us".
Francis called for a "patient and renewed commitment
towards full unity...in view of the common good" as well as a
life of charity and mutual understanding amidst our
differences".
