It is necessary to educate
people in respectful and fraternal dialogue between cultures and
civilisations and in care for the created world, Pope Francis
told representatives of Italy's diocesan Caritas organisations
during an audience on Thursday.
"In the face of global challenges that sow fear, iniquity,
financial speculation, including on food, environmental
degradation and wars, it is necessary, alongside the daily work
on the ground, to pursue the commitment to educate people in
respectful and fraternal dialogue between cultures and
civilisations and in care for the created world, an 'integral
ecology'," the pope said.
"I encourage you not to tire of promoting, with tenacious
and patient perseverance, communities that have a passion for
dialogue, for experiencing conflict evangelically, without
denying them but using them as an opportunity for growth and
reconciliation," Francis continued.
He also encouraged the representatives of the Catholic
relief agency in their work of training volunteers and in the
support they offer to the migrant population in Italy.
