Pope Francis will visit
refugees and asylum seekers on the Greek island of Lesbos on
April 16, Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said
Thursday.
The pope will visit the island on the front lines of
Europe's asylum seeker crisis together with the Ecumenical
Patriarch of Constantinople, Bartholomew I.
Public events could be held at the reception centre for
refugees on the island and at the port, Father Lombardi said.
The pope will be accompanied by a maximum entourage of 30,
including journalists.
