The Vatican Museums and Tor Vergata
hospital have joined forces to encourage more people to donate
blood, it was reported on Tuesday.
Under the scheme RossoArte (RedArt), donors at the blood
transfusion centre at the teaching hospital in east Rome will
receive a voucher giving entry to the Vatican Museums for 4
euros rather than the usual 16 euros and without having to
queue, to be used before the end of the year.
Organisers recalled the words of Pope Francis during the
jubilee for blood donors.
"Your actions are the sign of a zeal, of a creativity in
charity deriving from a beating heart, powered by the love for
people in need," he said.
"It is a nice alliance between blood that generates and
fuels life and art that gives us consolation and happiness,"
Vatican Museums director Antonio Paolucci said.
