Rome authorities are expecting
50,000 pilgrims for a February 6 procession leading to St.
Peter's Square for viewing the reliquaries of St. Pio, better
known as Padre Pio, and St. Leopold, according to an ordinance
released by Rome Commissioner Francesco Paolo Tronca's office on
Monday.
A prayer vigil for the reliquaries is scheduled to take
place February 4 at San Salvatore in Lauro church.
The ordinance said the area surrounding the church's square
will be secured starting at 7 a.m. on February 4 through the
afternoon of February 5.
That area includes Alberto Cadlolo elementary school, which
will remain closed February 4 and 5.
Pio IX pontifical school on via dei Cavalieri del Santo
Sepolcro will be closed February 5.
