Archbishop of Turin Monsignor Cesare Nosiglia on Tuesday said the public display of the Holy Shroud of Turin, which closed on June 24 after 67 days, has been "an overwhelming experience" that saw over 1.5 million religious pilgrims.
Nosiglia said Pope Francis's visit Sunday was the most exciting moment of the event for him, and expressed surprise at the community's warm reception of the exhibition.
"I didn't expect that Turin would respond so well, with enthusiasm and great affection," Nosiglia said.
Turin Mayor Piero Fassino called the event "beautiful, efficient and well-attended", adding that it was "a great religious and civic event that involved all of Turin, becoming even more well-known as a hospitable city of culture, one which makes you want to come back". http://popefrancisnewsapp.com/
