Pope Francis in a post on
his Twitter feed Monday called Holy Week leading up to Easter "a
privileged time".
"Holy Week is a privileged time when we are called to draw
near to Jesus: friendship with him is shown in times of
difficulty," Francis tweeted.
Holy Week events began with Palm Sunday - yesterday - and
continue until Easter.
The pope's Twitter account, @Pontifex, is highly popular
with about 18 million followers in nine different language
accounts.
In English, it is followed by 5.71 million people, 2.59
million in Italian, 8.31 million in Spanish language, as well as
1.3 million in Portuguese.
