The extraordinary Holy Year called by Pope Francis to start in December "must not be an opportunity for doing business" but rather a time for thinking of those in need, Cardinal Vicar of Rome Agostino Vallini and director of the Rome diocesan branch of the Caritas relief agency Monsignor Enrico Feroci said Thursday.
To this end the Church in Rome is considering asking municipal utilities to relieve the debt of the poorest families in the city and setting up a special fund supporting those in greatest need.
Francis called the special Jubilee year dedicated to mercy last Friday to mark his second anniversary as pope and underscore a central spiritual theme of his papacy. http://popefrancisnewsapp.com/
