Pope Francis said Thursday that
medicine should not be practised for profit but must instead
focus on providing care for the sick, elderly, and dying.
Efficiency is less important than compassion, said Francis
during a meeting on care for the elderly and palliative care.
The pope said this work is of great value, even though it
is not focused on saving lives but instead honouring life, and
should be attractive to students and professionals in the field.
