Pope Francis called on
worshippers to appreciate "the gifts of others" and to not be
"envious" during a general audience Wednesday.
The pontiff told the crowd in St. Peter's Square to guard
against "divisions", "jealousies", and "incomprehensions" that
"shatter the Church" in a nod to St. Paul's Epistles to the
Corinthians.
Francis also warned against feeling superior to others and
"having an acid heart, that instead of blood seems to drink
vinegar".
The pope included the Catholic Church itself in his
invocation to "not be jealous, but to appreciate the gifts and
qualities of the brothers".
