Former pope Benedict XVI's first "selfie" photo showing him posed with an Italian seminarian has been posted on Twitter.
The photo of the pope emeritus, 87, and Giuseppe Ricciardi from the southern Italian diocese of Aversa has been posted on the seminarian's Twitter feed.
Benedict, who was born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, made modern history when he resigned the papacy in early 2013, setting the stage for the papal enclave that elected Pope Francis in March 2013.
He currently lives in retirement in a renovated monastery inside the Vatican walls.
