(ANSA) Vatican City, August 28 - Pope Francis will
celebrate Sept. 13 a solemn Mass at the war memorial at
Redipuglia in the northern province of Gorizia to mark the 100th
anniversary of the start of the First World War, the Holy See
said Thursday.
At the end of the Mass the pontiff will give to the
military chaplains and bishops present a lamp that will be lit
in their dioceses to recall the anniverary of the Great War.
During his trip the Argentinian leader of the Roman
Catholic Church will visit the Austro-Hungarian cemetery at
Fogliano di Redipuglia and will stop in prayer before the
monument to the fallen where he will place a floral wreath, the
Vatican press office said.
During the mass Francis will recite a prayer for the fallen
and victims of all wars.
