Argentine President Cristina
Fernandez de Kirchner has called to offer her condolences to
Pope Francis after three family members died in a car crash, the
Vatican said in a note Wednesday.
Three relatives of the pope were killed in a car accident
in Argentina early Tuesday morning and another was seriously
injured.
Francis was reportedly informed by telegram of the accident
that occurred just after midnight local time in the province of
Cordoba, about 550 kilometres north of Buenos Aires.
Francis, whose birth name is Jorge Mario Bergoglio, is a
native of Argentina.
His nephew Emanuel Bergoglio, 38, was seriously injured
while his nephew's wife and two children were killed, police
said.
