Argentina striker Mauro Icardi
has been stripped of the Inter Milan captaincy and the skipper's
armband handed to Slovenia goalie Samir Handanovic, Inter said
Wednesday.
He was also dropped from the squad to face Rapid Vienna
in the Europa League on Thursday night.
No explanation was immediately given but coach Luciano
Spalletti will speak about it at a press conference in Vienna at
18:30 ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna,
Inter sources said.
Icardi has been in the news recently over a long tug-of-war
on the renewal of his contract amid rumoured links to a move to
Chelsea.
Fans were divided on social media about his being demoted
from captain.
