Serie B club Spezia Calcio and
a Cinque Terre amateur team are under investigation for an
alleged clandestine immigration operation bringing promising
Nigerian youngsters to Italy from an academy in Abuja, judicial
sources said Monday.
Police have banned the president and the CEO of the club near
Genoa, as well as the president of the Valdivara Cinque Terre
amateur outfit, for one year in the probe, the sources said.
Police said they had set up a "system" to bring to Italy
young Nigerian talents selected at the Abuja soccer school,
"violating norms on clandestine immigration".
