The sale of AC Milan to its new
Chinese owners will be closed on December 13, long-time owner
Silvio Berlusconi said after his last Milan derby in charge
Sunday night.
He said it had been a "painful decision" and "now soccer is
like Monopoly, where millions count for nothing".
Three-time premier and media mogul Berlusconi, who recently
turned 80, said he may stay on as honorary president after the
sale to a consortium led by Sino-Europe Sports (SES).
In later comments on the Milan website, Berlusconi said "I
have the satisfaction to have contributed to your emotions, you
have moved me to tears. Together, with Milan and for Milan.
Forever."
