Italian Elisa Di
Francisca took silver medal in the women's individual foil final
at the Rio Olympics on Wednesday after losing against Russia's
Inna Deriglazova 11-12.
She took to the podium brandishing the European Union flag
and dedicated her result to the victims of the terrorist attacks
in Paris and Brussels.
"Europe exists and is united against terrorism... terrorism
mustn't win," Di Francisca said.
"We must remain united and not allow terror to get the
better of us. Let's not allow those who want us to shut
ourselves in our homes to get the better of us," she added.
Marco Innocenti also won silver for Italy on Wednesday in
the double trap shooting.
Those achievements took to six the number of silver medals
for Italy.
So far the team has also won three gold and two bronze
medals.
