Sprinter Martina Caironi has been
chosen as Italian flag bearer at the XV Summer Paralympics in
Rio de Janeiro from September 7 to 18, Italian Paralympics
Committee chief Luca Pancalli said Friday.
"Wow what a thrill!" said Caironi, 27, who won the 100m-T42
for amputees at the Paralympics in London four years ago.
"It was really unexpected given that Rio will only be my
second Paralympics.
"I'm proud, it will be an honour to wave the tricolour and
represent Italy. I hope to be up to the task".
