Rome prosecutors on Tuesday asked
for a life sentence for Daniele De Santis, the Roma ultra
accused of the murder of Napoli fan Ciro Esposito, mortally
wounded on May 3, 2014 just before the Italian Cup final between
Fiorentina and Napoli who died 53 days later. De Santis, a
former member of a group of hardcore 'ultra' Roma fans and an
extreme right wing militant, has admitted to pulling the
trigger, but said he only did so as he was being attacked with
knives. A medical report documented the fact that De Santis
suffered "cut wounds" in the clashes, Carabinieri police said in
2014.
