AC Milan announced Tuesday that
coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has been sacked, with Cristian Brocchi
put in charge of the team until the end of the season.
The seven-time European champions are sixth in Serie A
with 49 points after Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Juventus, who top
the table with 76 points.
Former Milan midfielder Brocchi had been at the helm of
the club's top academy side.
"Sinisa Mihajlovic has been relieved of his role as AC
Milan coach," a statement said.
"The club would like to thank Mihajlovic for the
dedication and hard work carried out this season.
"Cristian Brocchi will now be in charge of the first team
until the end of the season. AC Milan would like to welcome Mr
Brocchi and wish him all the best".
Serb Mihajlovic, who was appointed by Milan in the closed
season after a impressive stint at Sampdoria, led the side the
final of his season's Italian Cup.
