Alex Schwazer should not be forgiven any of his three and a half year ban for drug cheating because he has collaborated with sporting justice, an Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) prosecutor said Friday. Even if world anti doping agency WADA decides in favour of a discount for the 2008 Olympic 50 km walk champ, it should not be more than three months, he said. Schwazer, 31, has said repeatedly he wants to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The original ban was imposed on Schwazer after he tested positive for the illegal blood-booster EPO just before the London Olympics in 2012.
In January Schwazer's former girlfriend, 28-year-old ex-world champion figure skater Carolina Kostner, was banned until May next year for helping him dodge a test.
