The European Union's Mobility
Commission is proposing EU automakers be mandated to have a
fleet on the market by 2030 that produces 30% less C02 emissions
compared to 2021 levels, as part of the Commission's Clean
Mobility Package. An intermediate target of 15% by 2025 is
included in the package to help ensure automakers reach the 2030
target. The package also includes an incentive mechanism for
automakers that exceed their clean automobile and van quota, and
sanctions of 95 euros per gram of emissions for each vehicle
over the limit.
