Some 70% of people diagnosed with
cancer today go on to beat the disease, a 15% rise over the last
10 years, the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM)
said Thursday.
Survival rates were higher for the most common tumour,
breast cancer, at 91%, AIOM said.
There have been "significant" advances in treatment but not
many steps forward in prevention by changing lifestyles, it
said, saying that 41% of cancers are avoidable.
