A place to bring together genius
and capital, the two fundamental ingredients to create products
and services able to revolutionise the lives of everyone - from
October 13 to 16 Venice will host the International Inventors
Exhibition, the first Italian fair dedicated to 'doers', a term
born to describe not only people who do but also those who
really get things done.
"Tiny ideas, often crazy ones, have often revolutionised
our lives," explained Matteo Cristani, information and computer
technology (ICT) lecturer at the University of Verona and the
managing director of D-nest web.
"Ideas that may have only found applications after
decades," he added, "such as the analogue navigator for cars
made from paper maps moved by rollers, or the 'very banal'
object-instruments like rocket and mosquito repellent. There is
an infinite range of useless ideas, from the motorized ice-cream
cone to butter-spread 'lipstick', but all of them could have
turned out to be a small seed able to revolutionise the life of
many people.
"Often, though, the greatest difficulty for ideas is
finding someone who supports them economically to make them
grow," explained Gianfranco Gramola, director of the
International Inventors Exhibition, "and that's why we have
thought that in Italy, homeland to a vast number of geniuses, an
event was needed to let inventors and investors meet".
The event organised by d-nest will take place in the
exhibition spaces of the Pala ExpoVenice and aims to involve 500
inventors, research institutes and businesses. But the
International Inventors Exhibition does not mean to be an
innovation show but rather a space to turn ideas into reality,
an 'accelerator of concrete dreams'. The realm of the doers, or
rather the brilliant people who do without wasting time thinking
or speaking too much. In order to propose ideas, there is time
until the end of July, by registering directly at the site
www.dnest-inventors.eu.
