Italian astronaut Samantha
Cristoforetti had her first wardrobe change on Monday after
nearly a month aboard the International Space Station.
"New month, new wardrobe: now it's time for green pants,"
Cristoforetti tweeted on her twitter profile @AstroSamantha.
Cristoforetti received six pairs for the duration of her
six-month mission, which she detailed in Outpost 42, the
mission's logbook diary.
"This will be the month of green pants," Cristoforetti
wrote, adding that she liked the pants because their Velcro
strips "prevent objects from floating away".
The astronaut also wrote about sounds in her journal entry.
"There is always a significant background noise because of
the many fans and pumps: a constant hum indicating that the
station is 'alive' and in good health," she wrote.
"In fact, if we had an emergency, like a fire or a pressure
drop...we would notice it immediately because the station would
fall silent. The computer would activate an automatic emergency
response that would turn ventilation off".
Cristoforetti is Italy's first female astronaut at the
space station.
