The Association of Audit Court
Magistrates said Monday that it was holding an extraordinary
assembly to discuss a move by the government to strip the State
Auditor of its 'concomitant' oversight powers on the National
Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
Audit Court President Guido Carlino has expressed opposition to
the government's move, which it made with an amendment to a
decree on public administration.
The opposition 5-Star Movement (M%S) and Democratic Party (PD)
have expressed, amid reports the executive could push the
measure through the Lower House with a confidence vote.
The NRRP seeks to make the Italian economy Greener and more
modern, via projects funded with the help of almost 200 billion
euros in EU grants and low-interest loans on condition that all
agreed targets are met by 2026.
The government is trying to speed up the plan, amid concerns
about whether the targets can be met by their deadlines.
