Democratic Party (PD) leader Enrico
Letta on Tuesday said League chief Matteo Salvini was "doing
everything" to cause Premier Mario Draghi's government to
collapse.
The comments were made amid tension over a competition bill that
the government needs to pass to get a second tranche of EU cash
for its post-COVID National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
There has also been fiction over the policy of giving military
support to Ukraine, with both the League and the 5-Star Movement
(M5S) saying Italy should not send any more weapons to Kyiv.
But Letta said League was the main problem with the coalition.
"The M5S don't do the same as Salvini, who does everything to
bring down the government," Letta told Rai television.
"(M5S leader Giuseppe) Conte doesn't".
