A reform of Italy's referendum
laws to allow referenda that propose laws as well as rescinding
them moved from the Lower House to the Senate on Thursday.
The reform went through with 272 ayes, 141 nays and 17
abstentions.
Since it is a Constitutional reform, it requires a two-thirds
majority in both houses or will be subject to a referendum if it
fails to get that majority.
