Under-investigation Marcello
Pittella of the centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD) on
Wednesday quit as Basilicata governor saying his mandate from
voters had been "exhausted".
Pittella had been suspended since July 6 2018 after being
placed under investigation in a healthcare probe.
The next regional elections in Basilicata are on March 24.
Pittela said his resignation was "immediate and irrevocable".
