Premier Giuseppe Conte will meet
a delegation from Italian municipalities' association ANCI to
discuss the government's controversial security and migrant
decree next Monday, ANCI acting vice president Roberto Pella
said Thursday.
Some leftwing mayors have said they will not apply Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini's decree because it allegedly strips
asylum seekers of basic protection.
Pella said "we will ask (Conte) to modify the technical
application of the decree".
Salvini said: "Premier Conte is right to meet the mayors. You
don't deny anyone a coffee, obviously rthe decree is working, it
can't be touched and remains as is, applied and appreciated by
99% of the mayors.
