Deputy Premier and Labour and
Industry Minister Luigi Di Maio said early on Monday that the
government's key pledges will not be changed as the executive
continues talks with the European Commission on its budget plan.
These pledges include the introduction next year of a
'citizenship wage' basic income for job seekers and the 'quota
100' pension reform that will bring down the retirement age for
many people.
"I'm satisfied with the results achieved," 5-Star Movement
(M5S) leader Di Maio told ANSA after a meeting on the budget
overnight with top government figures.
"Thanks to this discussion we have reached an agreement on
all the issues: (cuts in very high) golden (State) pensions to
pay the debts of the public administration to creditor
companies; an 'ecotax' that will only apply to luxury vehicles;
the quota 100 and the citizenship wage will arrive in the way
that has been announced some time ago".
