Interior Minister and Deputy Premier Matteo Salvini's security-and-migration decree passed a confidence vote in the Lower House on Tuesday.
Among other things, the legislation, which is now close to definitive approval, makes it easier for the authorities to deport asylum seekers found guilty of felonies.
"It's a decree that brings tranquility and order to Italian cities," said League party leader Salvini.
