The 5-Star Movement (M5S) has
distanced itself from a call by its founder, comedian-turned
politician Beppe Grillo, for the powers of the president to be
curtailed.
"Grillo expounded his opinion, which is not in the contract
of government," Deputy Premier and Labour and Industry Minister
Luigi Di Maio, the M5S leader, told RTL 102.5 radio on Monday.
"We are not launching a big reform of the Constitution about
the president of the republic".
Grillo said the president's powers should be limited during a
M5S rally in Rome at the weekend.
