The government is to gradually
scrap funding for pluralism in the media, while "ensuring
pluralism in information and freedom of expression", according
to a majority resolution attached to the DEF economic blueprint
in view of the 2019 budget bill.
Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio recently vowed to scrap State
funding for the media after what he regarded as biased and
hostile reporting.
On of his main targets, the left-leaning La Repubblica daily,
replied that such funding had already been scrapped in 2012.
