Italy has "saved Europe's
honour" on the migrant crisis and "this pride allows us to be
very demanding towards other EU countries," Premier Paolo
Gentiloni said Wednesday.
Briefing the Lower House on this week's EU summit, Gentiloni
also said the EU must make "steps forward" on growth and Italy
must be "united and strong on this".
Gentiloni told the House on the upcoming EU summit that "we
have 15 months ahead of us that may prove to be decisive if
certain opportunities are taken" for the EU's future, "or can
confirm the difficult situation".
On Thursday and Friday in Brussels EU leaders are set to look
at a number of the most pressing issues, including migration,
defence, foreign affairs and digitalisation.
