Anti-establishment 5-Star
Movement leader Beppe Grillo said Tuesday he wanted a response
from the ruling Democratic Party (PD) on the M5S's demand for a
snap election after the resignation of PD leader and outgoing
Premier Matteo Renzi. "The earlier we vote the better. That's
what we think, what does the PD think. Does the voice of its
secretary still count for something? Enough of chat and banter.
Be clear to Italians. We are awaiting a response after (the
PD's) executive meeting tomorrow". Renzi is set to resign after
steering a budget bill through parliament after a stunning
rebuff in Sunday's Constitutional reform referendum.
