Italy's unemployment rate fell to
11.6% in October, down 0.1 of a percentage point on the previous
month, national statistics agency ISTAT said on Thursday.
It said the proportion of people in employment fell by the
same amount, taking it down to 57.2%.
The proportion of people considered inactive as they are not
in work or actively looking for a job rose to 35.1%, up 0.2 of a
percentage point.
The agency that it estimates that the number of people in
employment dropped by 30,000, 0.1%, in October with respect to
September.
However, the number of people in work was up by 174,000,
0.8%, in October compared to the same month in 2015.
Italy's unemployment rate for people aged 15 to 24 who are
actively on the labour market dropped to 36.4% in October, down
0.4 of a percentage point on September, ISTAT said.
