The majority 5-Star Movement
(M5S) in the Turin City Council on Thursday presented a motion
to withdraw the City of Turin from the Turin-Lyon Observatory, a
technical workgroup of the Italian and French governments. "The
motion helps us to explain why we are strongly against the
high-speed train (TAV) (link), an investment we feel isn't
necessary or a priority given the projected benefits, and we
think those resources would be better invested elsewhere," said
Turin Mayor Chiara Appendino. The document must be approved by
the Turin City Council.
