Gentiloni said Thursday he was hopeful ISIS can be defeated next
year, while stressing that many more challenges will come after
that. "I think that 2017 could be the year of the final defeat
of Daesh, in Sirte, Mosul, Raqqa," Gentiloni said as he opened
the Med Dialogues conference in Rome. "But we have challenges
after the liberation before us... in particular reconstruction,
security and awareness".
