British Foreign Secretary Boris
Johnson told Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni at
bilateral talks on the fringes of a Med Dialogues forum in Rome
Thursday that he used to drive nothing but Alfa Romeo".
Johnson said he was a great fan of Italian products and would
like to end the 'prosecco row' that pitted him against Industry
Minister Carlo Calenda a couple of weeks ago.
Johnson and Gentilon's talks took place in an atmosphere of
great cordiality, according to those present.
On November 16, Calenda described Johnson's remarks that
Italy will end up softening its Brexit position because the UK
imports a lot of prosecco, or Italian sparkling wine, as "a bit
insulting".
