Italian MPs "don't want to cut
their salaries," anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader
Beppe Grillo said Wednesday amid stonewalling from the ruling
centre-left Democratic Party (PD) and other parties against an
M5S bill that would halve MPs' pay. The M5S has long been
campaigning against high MPs' salaries, a popular campaign among
voters. Italian MPs are the fifth-highest paid in the EU,
according to a report from the Lower House.
