American First Lady Michelle Obama is to host Italian Premier Matteo Renzi's wife Agnese Landini during an official trip to Washington next week, the White House said Friday.
Renzi and his wife are expected to reach the U.S. capital on the evening of October 17 for a visit lasting through October 19, the premier's office said.
The Italian premier is scheduled meet with U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday, followed by a joint press conference and dinner at the White House. On Wednesday, he will speak at Johns Hopkins University.
Meanwhile Michelle Obama will give the Italian first lady a tour of the Kitchen Garden, which she planted in the spring of 2009 with the help of local elementary schoolchildren.
Landini will also be treated to a performance by students from a school in the Turnaround Arts program, which was set up by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities of which Michelle Obama is honorary president.
The Committee has developed educational programs in 68 schools across 13 states and Washington, DC, since 2011.
