The government said Friday 39
million euros are left over from a 480-million-euro school
building and renovation program it launched in February, and
urged local authorities to apply for further financing if they
need it.
The financing was set up for cities, provinces and
municipalities to spend on schools, free from budget
constraints.
"We've been able to identify new resources to continue the
work done so far," said Laura Galimberti, the head of a
government task force on school construction called 'Safe
Italy'.
"Thanks to the collaboration of the most virtuous local
bodies, today we can relaunch the #Unblockschools operation".
So far the program has financed 1,249 building or
renovation projects and 900 more are in the works, the
government said.
