The interior ministry is at
work on a plan to make migrant reception uniform across Italy,
Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said Monday.
"We want to avoid different responses in different areas
and to organize a global approach," he said on the sidelines of
a conference on migration and international protection organized
by the Superior Council of the Magistrature (CSM), the
judiciary's self-governing body.
"I will present the new plant to government and the premier
next week. We're also setting up a task force to check up on
reception centers and make sure they are functioning correctly.
Managing 40,000 migrants is one thing, managing 150,000 is
another. So we need to recalibrate the system," Alfano said.
