Health Minister Beatrice
Lorenzin said Thursday the government would start a new campaign
for the September 22 Fertility Day to encourage Italians to have
more babies after the existing campaign was criticised as sexist
and insulting to young people who are too poor to start
families. Lorenzin added that Premier Matteo Renzi, who was
among those who criticised the campaign, should work to try to
boost Italy's birth rate, which is among the lowest in the
world.
