Rome Deputy Mayor Daniele
Frongia said Thursday that the five resignations that have
rocked Mayor Virginia Raggi - her cabinet chief, budget
councillor, heads of ANAC transport company and head of AMA
waste company - were not a crisis but a sign of "transparency".
Frongia said: "It's certainly not a crisis" and stressed that
cabinet chief Carla Raineri's forced resignation was due to
action from the anti-corruption authority ANAC, "in an
extraordinary programme of analysis and verification of all the
Raggi administration's decisions". He said "this is an
extraordinary operation requested by the mayor to maximise
transparency".
