Italian Premier Matteo Renzi said
on Tuesday he would prefer U.S. Democratic presidential
candidate Hillary Clinton to become the next president as
opposed to her Republican rival Donald Trump.
"Thinking about the situation and the role, the leadership
and the position of the U.S., I think it is obvious for me and
many of us to prefer Hillary Clinton as 'commander in chief',"
he said.
"She would be able to get to know every dossier, and would
be capable of having a history and a future with her other
partners," he added.
Renzi also reaffirmed he would work with whoever is elected
president and that now was the moment "to respect the great
democracy of the U.S".
